Gallery of Joan O. Stabler

A digital gallery to pay homage to my late grandmother, the artist Joan O. Stabler.

After my Grandmother passed, I wanted to honor her memory with this site. She was a great painter so I made this digital gallery to display all her works. Friends and family can purchase prints right from the site, so anyone can have whichever painting they like, and we no longer need to fight over them.

For stationary and any other branding elements, I tried to find creative ways to let her paintings carry the show. I want my design to be "invisible" so all the focus is on the vibrant colors and beautiful rhythms in her art.

Web Design

I wanted the site to be as bright and beautiful as Joan's paintings. I used my favorites as decorative backgrounds and otherwise tried to step back and let the paintings speak for themselves. This site features all paintings I've been able to photograph to date, Joan's life story, and a digital store where anyone can buy prints of her work. Please take a moment to visit her site when you're done here.

Logo Design

The logo I use is literally just her signature digitized. I feel like the less "designed" it feels, the more I'm able to pay homage to her own talents.
